I have been known to make the remark that Bismark Brown makes
no contribution to Papanicolaou staining and ascribe it to Paul
Marshall.
Tony Henwood has stimulated me to find the reference.
Here it is:

and the same journal; 169-
The remarks are made in the second of these, and to quote:
"Bismark Brown Y was not bound to cervical cells, which confirms
the subjective findings of previous suthors, and so it should be
omitted"
