Hi, Histonetters,
My facilty reluctantly sends tonsils and gallstones home with patients after
gross description and diagnosis, with the same protocol stated by so many
other of you Histonetters. I recently heard a horror story, that makes me
want to decline from sending them out ever again. Tonsils were sent home
with a boy after his surgery. Later, the family's toddler came down the
hallway, container in hand, with one tonsil in his mouth, the other already
swallowed. Can't you see the same thing happening to gallstones? It
wouldn't be as diastrous, but they also were in contact with formalin.
