Trisha,
Yes you can use disposables on a base sledge provided the
holder is wide enough to reach the posts. When disposables first
replaced the solid knives they came complete with holders ( a bit
like the solid knife itself) which simply clamped into the microtome
knife holder whether rotory or sledge. I am sure there are plenty of
these around.
