Where are you going with all these minisurveys?
Maybe you should compile them all and write a book on the quirkinesses of 
histotechs!

I use 1.5 thickness because most of my slides are for research purposes. 
For light microscopy using dry objectives it may not make a difference, but 
I am not the expert.
