I do use fresh reagents with each stain but I think it may be the
Richard-Allan mounting medium.  Jennifer MacDonald pointed out that it is
incompatible with picric acid!

I haven't seen that one, but what about your acetone before and after picric
acid/acetone - do you use fresh solution every time?  Additionally the
acetone/xylene before xylene... is that fresh.  It sounds like you aren't
dehydrating well enough, but I could be wrong.  Good luck!
