You must have a rare Shandon Consul.  Ours is now gone after a year of
fighting and stress that I am sure has shortened my life.  The vast majority
of the labs that have the Shandon have the same problems with jamming
and running through coverslips like they were free.  We now use the
tape and love it.  Even my photography hasn't suffered.  Please
understand I have nothing against Shandon.  They tried to fix it but it
never did work right.  I have many other pieces of Shandon equipment
and love them all.

Shandon "Consul" uses glass coverslips. Works beautifully. Few (fixable)
problems. Works much better if you had the automatic stainer that goes
with
it.
