Subject: Thanks and another question
Thanks for all the replies to my question about the Sirius
Red stain.
However, I did get conflicting answers of whether it shows
the green
birefringence. One person stated that the Sirius Red does
not stain
amyloid, but my procedure in my AFIP Lab. Methods in
Histotechnology
(1992) does state that it stains amyloid.
My next question is: The only Sirius Red I could
find in a catalogue
is Direct Red 80 from Aldrich. (Sirius Red is in
parenthesis) My
procedure calls for Sirius Red F3BA. Is this the same
thing? Also the
dye content of the Direct Red 80 is ~30%. Does this have
any bearing on
the matter? And also does anyone know where I can order
Sirius Red
F3BA? I would greatly appreciate help on this matter.
Thank you all
for the help I've received so far.
Sincerely,
Rita Angel
