Greetings!

    F4/80 does work in mouse brain, staining both "resting" and 
"activated" microglia". In my hands it is somewhat easier to use than 
Mac-1 since the rxn.survives fixation better. I would look at your 
detection system, fresh peroxide, fresh DAB, detection kit mixed 
properly, etc. Process some liver in parallel as a control.
