[Histonet] Revealing lymph nodes
Terry Marshall notes having had no success with revealing lymph nodes by post-fixation in Davidson's fixative.
Neither have I. The clearing fixative must be used as the initial fixative.
An old method is to pass the formalin-fixed tissue through alcohols into xylene (or cedar oil). I've never used this method, and the one time I've seen it used it didn't work.
Once in a while there are no more than three lymph nodes in the axillary contents from a breast cancer. Your surgeon should live with it.
