We currently fix rabbit and dog eyes in Davidson's fixative and dehydrate
over 2 days using xylene as clearing agent. Trim into the block slowly at no
more than 10 microns thickness to avoid cracking the lens. Cut at 4 microns
after soaking on watery ice for at least an hour and section slowly. Coat
the surface of the block with wax after sectioning to prevent the lens
becoming brittle in case you need to go back to the block for more sections
later.
