RE: Control slide retention
We don't do a control for each case but each batch of stains. We fill
separately and discard after two years, as per CAP guidelines. j

I would recommend that you retain your control slides for the same length of
time that you keep your patient slides.

We are trying to make sure we are meeting the CAP guidelines for control
slide retention. I have checked the CAP guidelines, and there is really no
where (that I can find anyway!), that specifically states the retention of
control slides.
What is everyone out in histoland doing with their control slides and QC
logs for routine H&E's and special stain controls?
Thanks for the info!
