I am also from England and here are a few more of my memories.
When I was a lad all we had was a tap... just a tap, honest.
Its was so cold in the winter we would get dressed in bed because it
was too cold to get out without clothes on.
We had an oven next to the coal fire in which my mum baked bread and
cooked meat on Sunday.
When it was windy we had to sleep around the edge of the house in
case the chimney fell off.
Time have changed.
