How about home-made paper molds
 Heating paraffin over a bunsen burner and pouring it from a metal pot. 
 Glass specimen jars that we washed out and reused over and over
 Diamond point pens for scratching the number on the slide. 

 Think of all the moles, tonsils, gallbladders etc that had been tossed in
the trash without even a look see, and on the opposite end, radical
mastectomy specimens that looked as though half of the trunk of a woman was
laying on the gross table.

 Those good ole days I don't miss.
