RE: FWD'ing a post for Ronnie Houston RE c-kit

From:"Johnson, Teri"

Hi Carrie, Ronnie, and others,

There is an article in this month's Applied Immunohistochemistry & Molecular Morphology (11(1): 56-61, 2003) about this very thing. They use Dako's antibody (A4502), but don't make mention of Santa Cruz antibody.

One of our pathologists has shared some information he was given by a doctor
at AFIP. I have never seen this before, but was wondering if anyone else
has.

They claim that the c-Kit antibody from Dako(A4502)gives "widespread
positivty of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts, suggesting non-specific cross
reactivity with this particular antibody". However, they did not experience
this phenomenon with the c-kit from Santa Cruz Biotechnology (sc-168). Dako
are not aware of any issues with their antibody.

Both of these are polyclonals.

Appreciate your input
Thanks
Ronnie
