Good luck finding a qualified manager at that salary range.  I start my new
histotechs here in the corn fields of Illinois at the midpoint of your
manager pay scale and my histotechs (not HTLs)top out at $41,600/annually
with no supervisory duties.  Even then I couldn't find a registered HT when
I needed one.  There is a real shortage out there and good techs are
incredibly hard to find.

Histology Lab Manager--Veterinary Science

Range N15--Salary range: $26,416 to $29,723 per 12 months (depending on
experience) plus fringe benefits.  

Position Purpose: Responsible for processing specimens and performing
assigned tests according to predetermined protocol; responsible for
directing the daily/routine activities of the Histology Laboratory;
responsible for monitoring quality control methods, validating new
test/staining procedures; and participation in procedure development.  A
listing of essential functions is available upon request.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:  Knowledge of methods and techniques of
histology laboratory analysis; principles of biochemistry; and laboratory
quality controls, procedures, and appropriate statistical methods.  Ability
to perform specific procedures such as tissue processing, embedding,
sectioning, and routine/special staining of tissues; identify reagents and
chemicals; work safely with dangerous and contagious/infectious materials
and specimens; operate scientific equipment and computers; perform quality
assurance tests/regimens as needed; identify reference specimens; and
establish and maintain effective working relationships with other.  

Histology training and certification (HT or HTL) preferred.  Deadline for
