sections falling off slide

From:"Instrumedics, Inc." <info@instrumedics.com>

Patsy Ruegg is as surprised as I when Kate called about bone falling off
the Instrumedics adhesive coated slides. The sections are bonded to the
plastic layer and you have to use a razor blade to remove them!
Kate and I had a long discussion and we think that somewhere in the antigen
retrieval process, which is done in a pressure cooker, the bone is being
lost. Perhaps the acid buffer solution used in the pressure cooking may be
dissolving the bone. The marrow remains on the slide!

We discussed various experiments to check out the source of the problem. We
thought that the histonet would be a good place to get suggestions for
alternate antigen retrieval methods.
