RE: cryo chucks

We use plastic "embedding rings," CMS 22-038197, sold by Fisher.
We fill them with OCT, put them on a tray in the freezer, and simply
mount the specimens on the surface of the frozen OCT. It works
well, although it helps to abrade the surface a little to improve
adhesion between the old and fresh OCT.

Subject: cryo chucks

I wrote several weeks ago concerning the Tissue-Tek, perforated cryo chucks.
I have looked for some that don't cost an arm and a leg, but with no luck.
Cindy Stone offered to give me some she wasn't using any more, but they
weren't perforated. Thanks anyway. Does anyone else have perforated ones
they don't use any more? Even at half the cost of new ones, it would be a
bargain.
Thanks for all responses.

Rhonda
