I use Solochrome azurine as well, much more sensitive and easy than the
aluminon stain. Decalcified paraffin embedded sections are not good for AL
staining the decal will also remove the aluminum deposits.

A simple and effective method I have used is the solochrome
azurine technique (1972) found in Bancroft and Stevens
(Theory
and Practise of Histological Techniques), also for
beryllium.
