Hi Histonetters,
We recently had the same strange black bowel pigmentation. The "artifact"
maybe a biproduct residue from excessive use of lacatives by the patient that
is deposited in the colonic mucosa. This diagnosis was determined by our
in-house gastro-intestinal pathologist. I'm not sure if this is what Marg is
seeing but we found this artifact very interesting and have seen it again
just last week during H&E QCing.
