More great pictures, and complete protocols, for rat pups and fish larvae
respectively in the following:

An automated double staining procedure for bone and cartilage.
     Miller DM & Tarpley J. 1996. Biotechnic & Histochemistry. 71: 79-83

Detection of mineralized structures in early stages of development of
marine
Teleostei using a modified alcian blue-alizarin red double staining
technique for
     bone & cartilage.
     Gavaia PJ, Sarasquete C & Cancela ML. 1999. Biotech Histochem. 75: 79-84

Incidentally, I do recommend Biotechnic and Histochemistry, the journal of
the Biological Stain Commission. Its full of neat methods and ideas, its good
looking, and its cheap - and we all know HistoNetters are deeply into
bargains! See its website at:
     www.louisville.edu/journal/biotech-histochem
Ah - Being of a sceptical disposition I've just checked the site, and bits of
it are damaged! Its pretty though, but the editor can be contacted by email
at:
     biotech-histochem@louisville.edu

And yes of COURSE I'm biased - being on the editorial board
