Hemo D is a xylene substitute made from citrus oil terpenes ,it consists of
d-limonene. It is non toxic and easy to use, you may be able to dump the
waste down the drain(check local rules first). Some people may be allergic
or sensitized to it but in eleven years of use in my lab I haven't met
anyone (about 25 individuals) who had any problem with it. It has a pleasant
orange smell that most people enjoy. It even has anticancer activity and is
currently in clinical trials for antitumor activity. They are feeding it to
people! See my recent article in "Microscopy Today".
