<FontFamily><param>Courier New</param><bigger>S<FontFamily><param>Times New Roman</param>ome years ago I heard a lecture from a medical microbiologist
who had done all sorts of experimental work on the safety of
microbiology methods.
One finding I remember particularly well was that an area
around a lighted Bunsen burner was sterile to a distance of some
8-10 inches (25cm?), even when being used to sterilise loops,
etc that had been used to pick up colonies or pus and other
infected material.
Surprisingly effective!
