Hi Histonetters: Just had to put my 2 cents in about
automatic microtomes! I too learned on and loved an
old manual microtome. Worked with that machine for
many years and when our great little lab got bought
out and we were gobbled up by a bigger one and had to
cut about 75-100 blocks per day...my and my coworkers
wrists and shoulders started to give out. Over the
years I've known many a good tech leave the field or
be crippled because of poor ergonomics. I now am the
proud user Of a fully automatic Micron microtome and
love it! Its easy to use, dependable, safe and cuts
great! I work with bone and cut alot of levels and
sections and don't know what I'd do without it! Don't
be afraid to try one, they are great machines! Hope I
never have to go back to the "old way"! Pam
