Dear Ann,
I often remove film from H&E slides to do IHC. I soak the slide in acetone
for 5 minutes to remove the coverslip film. Then 3 changes of absolute
alcohol for 30 seconds each to remove the remainder of the adhesive, followed
by 3 changes of xylene, 1 minute each. I then rehydrate thru absolute
alcohol and 95% alcohol to water, then place in buffer. No need to
decolorize. I've had very good luck doing IHC on these slides. I often get
H&E slides for CKHMW, and occasionally for other antibodies. The Dr.s have
been very pleased.
