I think the best thing to do is perfuse the mice post fix for 4 - 12
hours overnight is what I usually do. If you get a good perfusion you can
see the liver turn. Problem would be with the heart as it is usually
expanded during the perfusion. Alternatively necrospy carefull place in
fixative of choice after 1-2 hours everything will be firm enough to gross
fix overnight then process. I have more detailed protocols that I will
hapilly share if you like. Fixation will depend on immunos you/or the
researcher want to do. For paraffin sections I generally go overnight in
formalin. Really need to know what you are looking for.
