Hi Carol,
Sounds like the poly-L-lysine. We've had the same effect,
occasionally, with our 'standard' automated H&E's. When making up the poly
slides, we make sure they are well 'dipped' and the let them dry overnight,
propped up at a ( roughly ) 45deg angle. Most of the time that seems to stop
it happening.
