If these are thick frozen sections that you handle with a
paintbrush or a glass hockey-stick (rather than cryostat
sections collected directly onto glass), then they need
to air-dry properly - at least an hour. It's better to
do this slowly than to try to speed up the process on a
warm hotplate. If they dry too quickly the edges curl
up and cracks may form.
