Shandon has a Xylene Substitute called Histosolve.. We'd be glad to send you a sample.

Hi Michelle,
the only process in what we have to use Xylene, is the
coverslipping.(Sakura)
In stains we use Histoclear (Shandon)
In our Hypercenter we use Ethanol, Propanol and Vulcite (FINA).

Hey everyone,


I have been doing histology for 2 years now and I have talked with a
friend about the need to consult a doctor as I have noticed a drastic
change in my memory including the loss of events on a day to day basis.
What I didn't realize was that Xylene could have such an effect.  I work
with it everyday and am relieved to know there is a potential reason for
this experience of memory loss as it is easy to overlook something like
this because so much of it is subjective in nature.  It is easy to see, if
we burn or cut ourselves but much less noticeable when it comes to
something like memory and fatigue.


 I am looking into a xylene substitute.  If anyone has suggestions for a
good one please let me know.
