 The incumbent must have completed an accredited course in histology and
be licensed by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.  At least
five years of histology experience; one year in a supervisory capacity
is preferred. Responsibilities include specimen identification,
tracking, handling, processing, embedding, sectioning, cutting,
grinding, and staining a wide variety of calcified tissues with and
without implants.  Experience in the use, maintenance and
troubleshooting of standard laboratory equipment and procedures.  In
addition to histology duties, the candidate will have the opportunity to
perform image and data analysis, including image acquisition as well as
qualitative and quantitative histomorphometry.  The candidate will
participate in experimental design and research discussions with the
Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory at UTHSC-Houston. Good computer
skills, knowledge of automated histology equipment, and hard tissue
histology experience desirable.
