Earlier I used xylene, chloroform and mixture of
aliphatics hydrocarbons (C6-C8). All these
reagents gave to me good results for years. As
dehydratant I used ethanol and acetone.
Isopropanol and mineral oil are very gentle for
tissues and lowest toxic for personnel.
These chemicals is very best for our lab. We
processes all our specimens manually. Each year
we have approximately 70-80K blocks. Sorry, but all
other commercial reagents not available for us...
