In the Private Lab that I worked in a few years back they used 'old'
reagents on their Analysers; they had to fool the bar code reader and
software, but their claim was that if the controls were OK, then what is
the problem? They failed to tell CPA that this was standard practice.

antisera frozen in 1080 - is this BC or AD, and were they frozen in the
arctic or Antarctic! I agree wholeheartedly about using (with proper
monitoring) expired antisera, but I bet even the top firms would balk at
putting an viability period of 910 years1
