If your pathologist or supervisor is really interested in room
temperature records, then I would suggest that you invest in a recording
thermometer. The fluctuations in temperature may be more important than
the temperature at a specific time. This record will allow you to see
how temperature has changed during time periods important to you and
more important it will free you from this menial task.

Many laboratories try to minimize their electrical costs by restricting
air flow and air conditioning during those time when rooms are not used
very much. e.g. on weekends.  In our building air handling is severely
restricted to offices over the weekend. While most laboratories are
supposed to maintain air conditioning at reasonable levels over the
weekend, this does not always occur due to the relative inefficiency of
air conditioning entire areas. 
Heaven forbid if an office becomes remodeled into a lab.
