fixation for frozen sections

From:Instrumedics

I want to concur with John Kiernan's comments on the importance of the
knowing how the fixative works and what it preserves. It is important for
the correct evaluation of the frozen section and critical for making an
accurate diagnosis.

With the tape-transfer process the frozen section remains frozen until
immersed in the fixative. It is not melted on a room temperature slide in
the mounting step which causes the quality to degrade.

Instrumedics developed a special fixative for histological stains on
CryoJane prepared sections.precisely for its preservation of the
morphological details present in a snap-frozen section.
