Dear Kevin,
  I think someone is "pulling your leg".  I have never heard of such a thing for AB controls, or any controls for that matter, that I can think of.

This is what we would call a "Man in a pub told me" I have no axcess to the person, a histologist of some merrit though, so I can not substanitate or back up the reasoning behind the claim and for that I am sorry.
