Re: Performance improvement in histology

From:Ross Stapf

I continually track turn around time of H/E slides. Also every day I am supposed to receive from one Pathologist at each hospital a grade for the quality of H/E, Cytology, Special stains, and Immuno slides. These grades along with any comments are entered into a database and a report is generated in line graph form for each area. Also a report of all comments and any action taken based on these comments is made. The administration here is very happy with this as this is the 1st time consistent PI data has been presented for our histology lab. Although it is a good bit of work it is worth it. My lab has always done a good job and this gives me the opportunity to prove it to others. Also it usually allows me to see any downward trends in quality or turn around time and make adjustments to work flow, procedures, or schedules before someone above me notices the problem and comes to me.
