Oil Red O

Dr Genc- The solvents (alcohols and xylene) used to infiltrate tissues with
paraffin also dissolve any lipids in the tissue so you need to use cryostat
sections of your samples. The only way to use paraffin to demonstrate lipids
is to osmicate the tissues before processing using highly dangerous toxic
volatile osmic acid used in electron microscopy. I'm sure someone on the
list server has a recipe for that if you prefer.
