Yes. Read up on the principles of immunohistochemistry.
They are the same for tissues of all animals, including
dogs. 

The best small book I know about for this is the one by 
Polak & Van Noorden, 1997. It is an inexpensive paperback, 
one of the Royal Microscopical Society's handbooks.

One of its authors (Susan Van Noorden) has also written
a substantial immunohistochemistry chapter in a large book 
due to be published right now (May-june 2002), aimed
at molecular biologists who are educationally challenged
