Re: Adjustable Workstations

From:MEller@stpetes.org

Our histotech was having sciatic nerve problems, and needed to change from
a sitting work station to a standing one.
We tried a motorized adjustable work station that could be raised and
lowered to any height, but even with additional reinforcement it was too
flimsy to support the microtome and waterbath. (Plus the motion of the
microtome caused enough waves in the waterbath to give anyone motion
sickness). Instead, with input from PT and OT, we designed a workstation
at standing level, that has an angled area for the waterbath. When the
tech needs to sit, she has a high ergonomic chair, and a foot rest at the
appropriate level, and she is a happy camper.
