chicken, aligator and emu tendons

From:Gayle Callis

I have a request to do cross sections of chicken, emu and aligator tendons,
and would like any feedback on anyone's experience with these samples.
Publications are being sent to me about previous work done although I think
they were put into methylmethacrylate plastic in order to retain
ossifications in chicken and emu tendons.

Formalin (NBF) fixation will be used, after that depends on the staining
they need.

When tendons were collected, were they pinned out to retain elongated,
stretched out orientation of fibers. I presume these tissues would curl up
if allowed to relax after dissection OR is this a better thing to allow,
relaxed tendons???
