What you may be looking for is a MODIFIED
BIELSOWSKY (GARVEY) SILVER stain. It is a silver stain and as such is
reasonably fiddly, but part of the heating of the silver solution is performed
in the microwave. If done well it demonstrates both plaques and tangles in
Alzheimer's brains. Methods can be found in most histology text books, in the
nervous tissue section.
