For any information about certification exams (HT, HTL, Specialist
in Lab Safety, Diplomate, etc.) or qualification exams (QIHC)
go to the ASCP Board of Registry home page:

http://www.ascp.org/bor

and then click on either "certification" or "qualification". Besides
the requirements to take the exam, you can also find the
outlines of what is on the exam, or the complete list of
tissues and stains from which the practicals can be pulled.

From the QIHC page:

Qualification Routes

1. ASCP certified as a technologist (HTL, MT, CT, BB, C, H, I, or M)
or specialist certified (SBB, SC, SCT, SH, SI, or SM) AND six (6)
months full time acceptable experience in immunohistochemistry within
the last five years.

2. ASCP technician certification (HT, MLT) AND twelve (12) months
full time acceptable experience in immunohistochemistry within the last
 five years.

 3. Baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally accredited
college/university, AND eighteen (18) months full time acceptable
experience in immunohistochemistry within the last five years.
