We have also had good luck with Shandon's Xylene Substitute. We use it in
a Linistat 14-station automatic stainer and it works beautifully. Clears
well and no smell. Our lab is basically hazard free save for formalin for
specimen sned outs and Rapid Fixx-methanol, glacial acetic acid and alcohol
and formalin I believe. I would highly recommend Shandon's solvents.
