Regarding the CPT code for FISH:
In part, this depends on which test you are performing, and on what type
specimen. I will tell you what we use for the Vysis "Pathvision" her-2
FISH test, based on their recommendations. FISH tests performed in
cytogenetics may be different, I don't know.
88392 Enzyme digestion
88365 In situ hybridization
83896 Nucleic acid probe
Vysis actually recommends that you use the 83896 Nucleic acid probe code
twice, since their kit is a cocktail of 2 separate probes, both of which
are included in the report. All codes would then be billed for each
patient test.
Vysis also has a Medical Reimbursement Department phone: (630)271-7061 if
you have any further questions. They sell many other types of probes as
well.
