Hello all,

When charging in todays climate one needs to tread
carefully to avoid the possibility of an audit by
medicare and medicaid. There are severe fines for any
errors.

In the situation being discussed, you could only
charge once. The ruling is one specimen one charge
per stain or per antibody. If you do two GMS stains
you can only charge for one. If you do a GMS and an
AFB then you could charge for two stains. This is the
ruling from our compliance officer. Hope it helps.
