Hi Everyone,

In answer to John Auld's comment on histotechnologist exchange on Wed., we
did indeed have technical staff from Denmark and from Austria. They were
not in actual fact working exchanges as such and the purpose of their
placement here was to act as the elective part of a formal Biomedical
Scientist training scheme of their particular countries. They were
therefore in a supernumary capacity and were regarded as Trainees, not as
State Registered, and were supervised accordingly by qualified staff.
Should the need arise and the Department was forced to employ non State
Registered locum staff then they would be regarded as Trainees and
supervised accordingly.

Jim Hall.
