Hi Ronnie,    Here's my first "in-person" HistoNet post:

In the 1970s and 80s, I used to order LVN for embedding large primate
brains from the "Hercules Powder Company" -- that's right, as in gunpowder,
I do believe...    (Remember, solid nitrocellulose is similar to TNT, and
is explosive unless kept wet with 70% alcohol at all times! )   I believe
one of the editions of the AFIP staining manual had a special section on
embedding decalcified middle ear specimens in LVN [sometimes referred to as
celloidin], if you want a reference.

I'd heard the company changed its name to just Hercules some time ago, and
a search of the web via Yahoo

yielded the following when I asked for the product Nitrocellulose (no luck
with LVN or low viscosity nitrocellulose).  I hope its the right company
and the right ballpark for the product you seek.
