I had a very pertinent question asked if I used NBF fixed frozen sections
of human kidney for immunofluorescence (IF)?
The answer is no, all immunofluorescent work was done on frozens, acetone fixed.
The NBF fixation of frozen was used for a rapid H&E to locate
glomeruli before all the other IF was done, and made part of the permanent
record in case the attending missed glomeruli during the biopsy protocol
Needless to say, if there were no glomeruli found, no IFA procedures were
run. This often required semiserial sectioning until glomeruli were found
Hope I didn't mislead anyone and I appreciated the timely question
