Many thanks to those who responded to my freezing with cracking problem.
The general opinion seems to be that -60 C isopentane is too cold and
fast.  My experience has been that this freezing method yields great
morphological preservation and nice flat sections on the cryostat BUT
often with Grand Canyon sized cracks. I'll try the good old crushed dry
ice method and also -40 C isopentane (without OTC) and let the list serve
know how the methods compare.
