My information on Alexa dyes was sent via a special brochure, when they
were introducing the trademarked compounds, all in one group. If they
are too spread out in the catalog, Molecular Probes tech services should
be the best bet on explanation, etc of these compounds and they do it
promptly via email.
Interesting sidelight: grad student just diluted out one of her
biotin conjugated antibodies 1:2000,
diluted SA-Alexa 546 (similar to TRITC aka rhodamine) 1:1500
in order to avoid background, with clean, spectacular (bright) fluorescence.
We tend to like them better than FITC and TRITC these days. The SA stands
for Strepavidin conj to Alexa.
