Carazzi's alum hematoxylin(QMC variant)is commercially available.
To prepare it yourself, the formula is as follows:
1. Dissolve 10g hematoxylin in 100 ml of 95% ethanol.
2. Dissolve 200g potassium alum in 2 liters DH20 warmed to 60 C.
3. Mix together.
4. Add 1.0g sodium iodate.
5. Add 400 ml glycerine.
